Mining tailings (copper ore, chromite ore, coal washing) and industrial wastewater (textile, leather, food processing) have the following characteristics:
PH value: Mostly neutral to slightly alkaline (pH 7-9), which is very suitable for the function of anionic PAM.
Suspended solids characteristics: Mineral particles are usually positively charged, and their charge neutralization effect with anionic PAM is significant.
Water hardness: In some areas, the water hardness is high. It is recommended to choose products with a slightly higher degree of hydrolysis (28-30%) to enhance salt resistance.
Recommended product grading strategy:
Grade | Molecular Weight | Degree of Hydrolysis | Target Application
Standard Grade | 12-15 million | 25-28% | General industrial wastewater, mineral processing tailings
Enhanced Grade | 15-18 million | 28-30% | High-concentration tailings, coal washing wastewater, difficult-to-sediment systems
II. Usage and Operation Guidelines
2.1 Dissolution Ratio
Dissolution Concentration: 0.1%-0.2% (i.e., 1-2 kg of product to 1 ton of water). Excessive concentration can easily form gel-like clumps, affecting the effect.
Dissolving Water: Neutral, clean water free of salts and impurities. Hard water or saline water will affect the dissolution speed and flocculation effect.
Dissolution Time: 40-60 minutes. Stir thoroughly until completely dissolved and no visible particles remain.
Water Temperature: Room temperature to <60℃. Appropriate heating can accelerate dissolution, but temperatures exceeding 60℃ will cause molecular chain breakage.
2.2 Dissolving Procedure
Prepare the dissolving container: Add the calculated amount of water and turn on the stirrer (100-300 rpm).
Even addition: Slowly and evenly sprinkle the PAM powder into the vortex of the water. Do not pour in a large amount at once.
Continuous stirring: Keep stirring until completely dissolved (approximately 40-60 minutes). The solution will be transparent and viscous after dissolution.
Standing and maturation: After dissolution, let it stand for 15-30 minutes to allow the molecular chains to fully expand for better results.
⚠️ Common mistake: Pouring the powder all at once will form "fish-eye" lumps that are difficult to dissolve, resulting in wasted reagent and reduced effectiveness.
2.3 Dosage Reference
Industrial wastewater treatment: 50-120 g/ton of wastewater (adjusted according to the degree of water pollution).
Coal washing/mineral processing wastewater: 30-110 g/ton of wastewater (dosage can be appropriately reduced for high molecular weight products).
Mining tailings settling: 4-10 g/ton of water (better effect when used with inorganic flocculants (PAC, PFS)).
Sludge dewatering: 4 kg/ton of dry sludge (suitable for filter press dewatering processes).
